PAINTING WITH LIGHT PETE REY FINE ART

LONDON

As a Creative Director, Pete Rey has 20 years production experience working on brand activation and development projects. The CEO of Beyond Design Agency, Pete maintains a highly creative role to work with individuals and businesses to strategise, plan then deliver outstanding content across all media spectrums to elevate projects to their greatest potential.

Within the art world, Pete Rey is a British contemporary artist producing vibrant, large format artworks full of energy and emotion. For his creations, Rey takes original inspirational source images and transforms them into unique pieces of contemporary art, a process he has termed ‘Phototranscendence’, which creates strokes much like those of a painters’ brush, whilst preserving the original colour palette. Inspired by meditational practice where one can often see auras and movements of light, Rey takes us on a journey, to blur the lines between known dimensions, creating unique artworks to represent the transcendence of energy flows into what is termed the ‘Quantum’ and beyond. Rey’s creative journey began at a young age, initially being signed to BritArt, (later acquired by Eyestorm), at the age of 21. During this early portion of his career, REY was creating and selling abstract fine art photography prints.

Rey then moved his creative talents to leading a production company working with a multitude of celebrities and iconic brands from all over the world. Returning to the art scene with a wealth of production skills and digital imaging expertise, REY brings a fresh look of abstract photography to the art world.

Rey takes us on a journey through his work, to blur the lines between known dimensions, creating unique artworks to represent the transcendence of energy flows into the Quantum and beyond. Deeply inspired by the work of Dr Joe Dispenza in the field, Rey takes original captured photographs and transforms the subjects through various digital painting techniques and artistic effects, to produce breathtaking pieces of large format art.

The great grandson of the eminent scientist Gordon Miller Bourne Dobson, CBE, who was instrumental in the discovery of the hole in the ozone layer, he has always enjoyed a talented grasp of technology and been fascinated by the science behind the known and unknown world.

The Dobson Unit, a measure of the density of Ozone in the air, is still used by NASA and all major meteorology bodies to this day. Celebrating the work of his great grandfather who also used imaging as a vital part of his work.

INTERSTELLAR

Pete Rey’s latest collection is an artistic exploration of deep space, produced from inspirational images captured by NASA. The body of work transmits a mixture of serene and powerful movements, combined with a stunning iridescence of colours found in the wonders of our galaxy and beyond. ‘Interstellar’ stands as a celebration of mankind’s exploration of world’s beyond our own and a greater understanding of the deeper universe. The great grandson of the eminent scientist, Gordon Miller Bourne Dobson, CBE FRS, who did historic work on atmosphere and whose measurement ‘The Dobson Unit’ is still used by NASA till today, the artist takes us on a journey through new realms of science and space.

Producing the collection in mesmerising scales of wall sized proportions and working in a true 16 bit colour palette (65,536 tones) to deliver stunning image gradations, Rey gives us an immersive and entirely original style of art creation, in a series of limited edition artworks.

ATMOSPHERE

Pete Rey’s ‘Atmosphere’ collection is an artistic exploration of the many spheres between the earth’s surface and the void of space.

The body of work transmits a mixture of serene and powerful movements, combined with a stunning iridescence of colours found across the expanse above us. It is Rey’s third art collection, following his first ‘Dimensions’ and second ‘Paradiso’.

Using source images from NASA as inspiration for each piece in the collection, captured from both space and aerial viewpoints, ‘Atmosphere’ stands as a celebration of the life’s work of Gordon Miller Bourne Dobson CBE FRS, the great grandfather of the artist. Dobson’s work on the atmosphere was instrumental in the discovery of the hole in the Ozone layer and propelled a much greater understanding of the entity as a whole, for which he was awarded a CBE and a Fellowship from Merton College, Oxford.

Producing the collection in mesmerising scales of wall sized proportions and working in a true 16 bit colour palette (65,536 tones) to deliver stunning image gradations, Rey gives us an immersive and entirely original style of art creation, bringing with it new perspectives to the world around us in a series of limited edition artworks.

PARADISO

‘Paradiso’, Italian for “Paradise” or “Heaven”, is the third and final part of Dante’s Divine Comedy, following the Inferno and the Purgatorio. It is an allegorical telling of Dante’s journey through Heaven. Guided by Beatrice, who symbolizes theology. In the poem, Paradise is depicted as a series of concentric spheres surrounding the Earth, as a representation of the soul’s ascent to God. This telling journey is enhanced and explored in REY’s title piece ‘Paradiso’.

Upscaling their size to mesmerizing wall sized prints of up to three meters across and working ina true 16 bit colour palette (65,536 tones) to produce stunning image gradations, REY gives us an entirely new and original style of art creation, bringing with it new perspectives to the world around us in a series of limited edition prints.

Achieving the appropriate perspective to create ‘PARADISO’ based on the poem, an exciting collaboration with the acclaimed aerial photographer MERR WATSON from Australia, was born. REY takes the images from an array of WATSON’S paradisiacal settings and transforms them into unique pieces of contemporary art.

Movement is a key component of Rey’s work, giving tremendous energy and a beautiful flow through each artwork. For his creations, Rey takes inspirational source images and transforms them into unique pieces of contemporary art through various digital painting techniques, before printing them in huge immersive scales. It is a process he has termed ‘Phototranscendence’, which creates strokes much like those of a painters’ brush, whilst preserving the original colour palette.
